概要

このシンポジウムの目的は、私たちの進化の隣人である大型類人猿の科学的理解を深め、野生生物の保護と飼育下におかれている大型類人猿の福祉を促進させることです。このシンポジウムは、1986年にシカゴに創設されたCCCC（Committee for Care and Conservation of Chimpanzees）の意志を受け継ぐSAGA（アフリカ・アジアの大型類人猿を支援する集い）がおこなう4回目の国際シンポジウムとなります。2001年林原フォーラム「進化の隣人たち」は、全て一般公開とします。「若手研究者プログラム」には10名分の枠を用意しております。このプログラムでは海外の若手研究者が本シンポジウムで発表することができるよう、旅費と宿泊費の援助をします。

The purpose of this symposium is to promote scientific understanding of the Great apes, our evolutionary neighbors, and to promote the wildlife conservation and the welfare in captivity. This is the fourth annual international symposium under the name of SAGA: Support for African/Asian Great Apes that is a spiritual descendant of CCCC (Committee for Care and Conservation of Chimpanzees) founded in a gathering of chimpanzee researchers at Chicago in 1986. The symposium "Evolutionary neighbors" is fully open to the public. We have a "Young researchers program" that provides 10 places for young foreign researchers who can have an opportunity to have a presentation in the symposium and to get the financial support for the travel and accommodation.
